A classic for a reason. This marriage of coffee and Irish whiskey gives off the warm feeling you crave in the colder months of the year. This is a relatively simple recipe so it's important you use high quality ingredients for each component.
Prep Work Notes
For this one you will need fresh coffee, The Irish coffee is the cocktail we used to test Bartender's Blend from it's inception, so we highly recommend our beans. We suggest to brew it as a pour over but you can also use your preferred brewing technique to give it a new spin. (cold brew, etc.)
You will also need rich demerara syrup which you can make yourself. Alternatively, pick some up from Liber & Co. here.
The Irish Coffee Cocktail Recipe
First, you will need to ensure your glass is warm. Do so by filling with hot water and let sit until glass is warm to the touch but not too hot.
Second, add 1oz. Irish whiskey. We used Powers Gold Label Irish Whiskey but feel free to use your favorite here. Third, add 1/4 oz. rich demerara syrup.
Fourth, add 3-3.5oz. of your fresh hot coffee. Make sure you leave a bit of room during this step.
Lastly, top with lightly-whipped heavy cream. A good technique here is to strongly shake the cream in a shaking tin for about 5-10 seconds. Then float it on top of your drink.
Cheers!
